A Pokemon Scarlet & Violet player believes that a subtle Easter Egg might hint at more content, even after the announced DLC has been released for Gen 9.

The Pokemon series has embraced DLC with the Nintendo Switch generation, and as a result, it means The Pokemon Company can continue to add more content after launch, unlike the old days, when generations would receive a third entry to include new material.

Pokemon Scarlet & Violet received post-launch content via The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero DLC, released across two updates: The Teal Mask and The Indigo Disk. These were followed by a brief Epilogue featuring Pecharunt.

Now that the DLC is out, fans are unsure if there’s anything left for Gen 9. The Nintendo Switch is nearing the end of its lifespan, and it’s unclear whether The Pokemon Company is gearing up for more titles on the platform or is preparing for the console’s successor.

Pokemon fan thinks opener is a hint at more content

A user on the Pokemon Scarlet & Violet Reddit has given a theory that more content is to come based on a strange Easter Egg that involves the title screen. When you first boot up the game, the opening screen shows the early morning sky outside the window.

Once you finish the main story, it switches to midday, and finishing the DLC switches it to dusk. This means that nighttime has still yet to come, which may hint that more content is on the way for Gen 9.

Not everyone was convinced, however. “Maybe so,” another user wrote, “But a setting sun has usually meant the end of a journey, like riding off into the sunset. The sun rises on a new journey, and sets on its end.”

Some fans believe that leaks regarding Pokemon Scarlet & Violet prove that there’s still more to come. There are leakers online who say that Gen 9 will receive another Mythical Pokemon, but this has yet to be confirmed and should be taken with a grain of salt.

If there is one more piece of content, that could be what finally shifts the opening screen to night, signifying that the end has come for Gen 9.

Fans likely won’t have to wait long for the answer, as Pokemon Day is due to take place on February 27. It’s there we’ll learn whether there’s more content to come for Gen 9 or whether The Pokemon Company is gearing up for Gen 10.
