Pokemon players want future Legendary events to be as exciting as Pecharunt
The Pokemon CompanyThe Pecharunt event in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet’s Epilogue has fans hopeful that future Legendary & Mythical events will be just as challenging.
The Pokemon series has both Legendary and Mythical Pokemon, though the barrier between the two concepts has faded over time. Legendary Pokemon can be found in-game, such as Mewtwo and the Legendary Birds in Gen 1, while Mythical Pokemon are acquired through outside means, like Mew.
When the Pokemon games gained online functionality, it was possible to download Pokemon, which is how many Mythical Pokemon have been released. You can even catch some Mythical Pokemon in-game, like Meloetta in The Indigo Disk DLC for Pokemon Scarlet & Violet.
Pokemon Scarlet & Violet only have one unique Mythical Pokemon: Pecharunt, which is encountered in the Epilogue chapter. Players need to defeat Pecharunt in battle, following a side story where it uses its power to control people in the Kitakami region.

A user on the Pokemon Reddit shared a meme about how they hope Pecharunt’s event is a sign of things to come, as Mystery Gift events that gave you Legendary & Mythical Pokemon became less interesting over time. Other users were quick to agree and hoped for changes in the future.
“The Pecharunt event is the greatest mythical event in Pokemon history,” one user wrote, while another said, “This why i actually liked the epilouge of scarlet and violet. its similar to the old mythical events.”
“I almost never see people taking about the coolest event, that being HG and SS’s celebi event where you go back in time and fight Giovanni so he doesn’t return,” a user reminisced, while another said, “The real Pokémon Go was going to Toys R Us for a Jirachi giveaway.”
Some users had issues with the old Mystery Gift events. “While the events were better back in the day, actually getting the gifts was a nightmare if you didn’t happen to live in Japan. They barely gave them away near me. Getting Deoxys? Not for you. Mew? Keep pushing that truck. “
“That’s why Gen 4 and 5 were the best for those. Most event gifts were distributed over the Internet, so it was easier to get them. And we still had events instead of “Hey here’s the Pokemon. Go to that NPC who has 5 unique lines of dialogue for you and get the Pokemon specific event item (if that even had that).”
While Pecharunt’s existence was leaked long before it appeared, its actual event was a lot of fun and better than what fans expected. Here’s hoping future Pokemon games have similar epic events for Mythical Pokemon rather than just releasing them as timed downloads.
