Riot Games has announced Ruined King: A League of Legends Story; a turn-based RPG set in the world of Runeterra. The game features some of the most beloved League of Legends champions, and will be available across multiple platforms.
After the reveal of Riot Forge back in October 2019, there’s been hype around one game in particular: Ruined King. It’s set to be the first third-party release through Riot’s new publishing platform.
Fans have been calling for a LoL RPG for many years, so the announcement comes with a huge amount of hype. There’s still plenty of details that need ironing out, like the mysterious identity of the Ruined King, for example.

Ruined King: A League of Legends Story gameplay
Ruined King is a “”narrative driven turn-based RPG” according to Riot Forge.
The game is based around Bilgewater’s Miss Fortune, Illaoi, and Pyke. Ionian champions Yasuo and Ahri are also playable, as Braum ventures down from the Freljord tundras to provide support and stability to this new squad.

The game is set in Bilgewater, a port town that is home to sea monster hunters, dock gangs, and smugglers from across the known world; and the Shadow Isles, a land cursed with the deadly Black Mist.
The gameplay we saw during the Game Awards trailer features your favorite League characters exploring Runeterra in more depth, while fighting against recognizable foes in turn-based combat. You can check out the full trailer below.
Is Ruined King coming to console?
Ruined King will be distributed through the Steam and Epic Games stores on PC, with copies also available on Xbox, PlayStation and Nintendo Switch.
It has been co-developed by Darksiders Genesis creators Airship Syndicate to bring the ports to life.
When is Ruined King coming out?
The release date for Ruined King was originally set for early 2021, but ahead of the Game Awards 2020 presentation, Riot Forge announced it would be delayed until later in 2020.

“We have recently been evaluating our timelines and we are going to need to make some adjustments,” they said.
