The latest Warner Bros Batman game, ‘Gotham Knights,’ is finally releasing this October – and fans will be able to play the title co-operatively, even if they both want to take hold of the same character.

WB Games Montreal is already very familiar with Batman games, having worked on Arkham Origins back in 2013, and the team is putting their experience to good use with Gotham Knights.

In an interview with Game Informer, the devs revealed plenty of new information about the upcoming title, such as how the Bat-family will be reunited in what will be the biggest Gotham City that players have experienced yet.

Speaking of experiencing Gotham, the developers were asked about the game’s co-op and if players will be able to take control of two of the same four playable superheroes at once. The answer may surprise you.

When asked about playing as either two Nightwings, Batgirls, Robins or Red Hoods, Game Director Geoff Ellenor confirmed that players have a lot of control to tailor their experience to their liking.

As it turns out, you can in fact have two of the same character on your team, marking a bit of an “Elseworlds” situation as Game Informer suggested.

“You can make it as weird as you want to,” he said.

Executive producer Fleur Marty even teased that there might be some special dialogue built-in if these scenarios arise in-game.

“We’re leaving it up to players. We know some people will want to have different characters, but some won’t care,” he revealed. “I don’t want to spoil anything, but there’s a funny moment in the game if you are playing as two of the same character. We’re giving you complete freedom.”

Right now, it’s anyone’s guess as to what this “funny moment” could be, but we won’t have long to wait. Gotham Knights is set to release on October 25 on PC, Xbox Series X/S and PS5 consoles.
