A fresh leak has revealed that Jack Black may be coming to Fortnite as a playable skin, but it’s not the Minecraft collab that you might have been expecting.
Against all odds, A Minecraft Movie has become one of 2025’s biggest films. Despite plenty of backlash to the original trailer and a rocky critical reception once it arrived in theaters, it’s clearly struck a chord with kids and fans of the iconic sandbox game.
In fact, it’s given Minecraft more relevance in wider popular culture than ever, with reactions to the Chicken Jocky moment being plastered all over social media.
Now, it appears that the movie’s star, Jack Black, will be arriving in Fortnite as a skin. However, it won’t be as Steve.
Leaks claim Jack Black skin is releasing in Fortnite
According to Shpeshal_Nick on the Xbox Era podcast, a whole host of crossovers and characters are in the works for Fortnite, including Doom: The Dark Ages and Henry and Hans from Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2.
But one of the most eye-catching names he read out was none other than Jack Black, which the host said he would “assume is Minecraft related,” although only the actor’s name was mentioned.
Then, trusted dataminer, iFireMonkey, who is usually accurate when it comes to Fortnite leaks, clarified that Black will be “just him as himself,” not the blue-shirt wearing Steve.
There are still very few details on what this Jack Black crossover will look like, or when it will happen. If the leaks are accurate and he’s appearing as himself, it’s possible that he could be the star of a future Fortnite Festival season, following on from Sabrina Carpenter in Season 8.
However, given that he’s best known as a musician for his work with adult comedy rock band Tenacious D, who are also on hiatus at the time of writing, this seems unlikely.
Alternatively, he could simply be added to the in-game store as a skin, although it would be unusual for an actor to be added outside of a collaboration with a movie or TV series.
It’s also worth noting that this is all based on leaks and nothing has been confirmed by Epic Games or Black himself just yet, so take it with a pinch of salt until then.
In the meantime, there’s still plenty to look forward to in Fortnite, with Chapter 6 Season 3 expected to be all about Star Wars.
