Cube unleashes Zombies in Fortnite Battle Royale called ‘Cube Monsters’

The mysterious purple cube has finally revealed its purpose, after initially spawning on the map out of nowhere, going to Loot Lake, destroying Loot Lake, flying across the map as a huge island, and now finally releasing Zombies.

Technically, they’re called ‘Cube Monsters’, and there are two types – Fiends and Brutes.

These Cube Monsters finally introduce an element of gameplay from the original ‘Save the World’ experience, but also have some real benefits and rewards specific to battle royale.

Killing these fiends and brutes will not only advance your progress in the Fortnitemares challenges (Destroy Cube Monsters, Deal damage with Assault Rifles or Pistols to Cube Monsters), but also give you a small amount of shield too.

You will find these Monsters at Cube fragments. Large Cube Fragments are found near corrupted areas, while Small Cube Fragments will spawn randomly around the map, so always be on the lookout.

In addition to shield, defeating Cube Monsters or destroying fragments all have a chance at dropping loot.

There is also a new weapon which will help you deal with these Cube Monsters even easier, called the Fiend Hunter Crossbow.

  • Available in Epic variant.
    • 40 base damage
    • 1.8 shots per second.
    • 4x damage against Fiends
  • Seven Arrow magazine size, unlimited ammo.
  • Can be found from floor loot, chests and Vending Machines.

The challenges for defeating these Cube Monsters will also give you some pretty cool rewards throughout the Fortnitemares limited time event, so they are worth seeking out.
