The long-awaited Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth has finally been released for PS5, but will the game be coming to Nintendo Switch? We’ve got the answer right here.

The original Final Fantasy 7 famously caused a divide between Square Enix and Nintendo, as the series moved to the PlayStation instead of the N64. Nintendo fans didn’t get a port of Final Fantasy VII until it was released on the Switch in 2019.

The repaired relationship between Square Enix and Nintendo might have allowed Cloud and Sephiroth to join Super Smash Bros, but it doesn’t extend to newer games, as Final Fantasy 7 Remake is currently unavailable on Nintendo platforms.

What about Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth though? The game is a timed PS5 exclusive but what happens when that window ends, and the Cloud is free to have adventures on different platforms? Here’s everything we know so far about whether or not Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth will be available on Nintendo Switch.

Is Final Fantasy VII Rebirth coming to Nintendo Switch?

At the time of writing, Final Fantasy VII Rebirth is not confirmed to be coming to Nintendo Switch. Currently, Final Fantasy VII Rebirth is only available for PlayStation 5, and it cannot come to other systems until after May 29, 2024, when the exclusivity window ends.

It has now been confirmed that Final Fantasy VII Rebirth is a PlayStation console exclusive, as it Final Fantasy VII Remake and the unnamed third game in the trilogy. This means that all three games in the remake trilogy are restricted to PlayStation and PC.

The Nintendo Switch wouldn’t have been able to run any of the Final Fantasy VII Remake games, except for the possibility of cloud streaming, but fans had hoped that the Nintendo Switch’s successor was up to the task.

As it stands, Final Fantasy fans will have to play the many retro titles and spin-offs from the series that are available on Nintendo Switch, as the newer games are limited to more powerful hardware.
