Vincent Valentine

Vincent Valentine is a fan favorite in the FF7 universe, but now that the character is set to appear in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, will be playable? Spoilers for FF7 Rebirth below!

Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth takes the characters out of the Midgar Slums and out into the vast wide-open world. It also introduces more of the cast from the original FF7, including Vincent Valentine, but it only makes some of them playable. Final Fantasy Rebirth has more playable characters than the Final Fantasy 7 Remake, but it stops short of making every character controllable, even if they do officially join the heroes on their quest.

Characters like Vincent Valentine, Cait Sith, Cid Highwind, and Yuffie Kisaragi all link up with Cloud and the gang in Final Fantasy Rebirth and Red XIII joins the party as a playable character after being just a guest party member in the final few hours of the FF7 Remake. Vincent was also the star of the spin-off Dirge of Cerberus: Final Fantasy 7.

Here’s who becomes a playable character in FF7 Rebirth and if Vincent Valentine is included in the game.

Is Vincent Valentine playable in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth?

No, Vincent Valentine is not a playable character in FF7 Rebirth.

The character is introduced in the game and does join Cloud and the gang, but he’s mostly a supporting character in the story, but can never be controlled directly by the player.

The list of playable characters in Final Fantasy Rebirth are:

  • Cloud Strife
  • Tifa Lockheart
  • Barret Wallace
  • Aerith Gainsborough
  • Red XIII
  • Yuffie Kisaragi
  • Cait Sith
  • Zack Fair (Limited)
  • Sephiroth (Limited)

This leaves only Vincent Valentine and Cid Highwind as the original FF7 party members not to be included in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth as playable characters.

Fear not though, it’s likely and heavily implied that both Vincent and Cid will be added to the party as playable characters in the third and final part of the Final Fantasy 7 Remake trilogy. For now, though, we’ll just have to settle for them as guest characters.
