You can get some bonuses in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth by having existing save data on your PS5 hard drive from other Final Fantasy releases. Here’s exactly what you can get in the game, and how to unlock all the save data bonuses.

When you start a new campaign in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth the game will offer to scan your hard drive for save data from other titles in the FF7 universe. Should you find it, you’ll be able to unlock some exclusive items and other helpful goodies in Rebirth. The rewards are designed as a thank you from Square Enix and will make the earlier portions of the game easier. Some rewards, such as the summons you’re given will still be helpful in the endgame of FF7 Rebirth.

You’ll be able to do the hard drive scan before you start a New Game if you like, all you need to do is scroll down to Bonuses on the main menu and follow the simple instructions. The game will give you a reward if you have save data from the Final Fantasy 7 Remake, the Intermission DLC, and the FF7 Rebirth Demo. You’ll also only need to have the save date, you won’t need to have completed any of these games/DLCs/demos to unlock the rewards.

FF7 rebirth rewards
FF7 Rebirth offers various rewards to those who’ve played previous FF7 games.

Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth rewards

Here’s what you can unlock if you scan your hard drive save data from the following FF7 games:

  • Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth demo: Kupo Charm & Survival Set (You can the Nibelheim segment in the main game to save you from doing it twice)
  • Final Fantasy 7 Remake (PS4/PS5): Leviathan Summoning Materia
  • Final Fantasy 7: Episode Intermission (PS5): Ramuh Summoning Materia

Simply having the save data is enough, so if you want the items and have these games in your library, download them and make some save data from some free bonuses. The demo is also free, so you could always just download it, save game, then unlock Ramuh even if you don’t play it.

Interestingly, the original FF7 and Crisis Core Reunion aren’t included in the list of games/content that offers some free rewards, so don’t worry about downloading those titles to your hard drive ahead of Final Fantasy Rebirth.
