100 Thieves CEO Matthew ‘Nadeshot’ Haag has been having some fun with Call of Duty fans following speculation that he and his organization could join the CDL next season.

After the Black Ops 4 season, many fans hoped to see Nadeshot and 100 Thieves continue their dominance by making the leap into Call of Duty League for the first season of franchising.

But, that never happened. Last August, Nade stated that while he and 100 Thieves wanted to stay in Call of Duty, joining the CDL was a risk they couldn’t take because of how much money needed to be invested.

That hasn’t stopped fans begging for him and the Thieves to join, though, especially after long-time friend Hector ‘H3CZ’ Rodriguez reportedly reacquired OpTic Gaming and their Los Angeles franchise spot.

The former CoD pro has revealed an interest in the CDL, but his team hasn’t joined yet.

With speculation swirling that H3CZ could sell that spot to the former OpTic Gaming member, paving the way for 100 Thieves to join the league, Nade shut down that rumor on stream. But, that hasn’t stopped him having a little fun with the rumors.

On October 2, the former Call of Duty pro posted an image of himself hugging two of 100 Thieves’ trophies from the Black Ops 4 season to Instagram.

It quickly sparked interest in the comments that he was teasing a return. “Don’t tease us like this,” replied one fan. Others, though, noted that it was bait. “This is such Bait,” one said, while another added, “You’re just teasing us at this point.”

He followed that up with an image of himself, H3CZ, and Dr Disrespect captioned “Mount Rushmore” on October 3.

Given the hints from Doc himself that he wants to be involved with a CDL team, specifically in San Diego, quickly believed the image to be just another tease.

While the posts might have added fuel to the fire for some fans, Nadeshot himself has admitted that he’d like to return to Call of Duty with 100 Thieves but it’s unlikely to happen just yet.

Nade did add that it could happen “down the road” so if everything makes sense and the opportunity comes up, the Thieves could return at some point. For now, though, we’ll just have to keep an eye on things, but it appears he’s just having fun with the rumors.
