Apex Legends Battle Armor event update: new limited-time mode

Calum Patterson

As Season 4 of Apex Legends has been extended, Respawn Entertainment are adding a new limited-time Battle Armor event to help pass the time waiting for the new season.

Taking place on World’s Edge, Battle Armor will rotate the same mode each few days, but with one key difference each time. At each rotation, a new level of shield will be available, and only this level.

For example, on April 28, things will kick off with white shield, the basic tier. There’s another twist too, as all players will land on the map with the shield equipped, plus a P2020. No new shields will be available to pick up either, so you’ll need to use cells and batteries to top yours up.

After a few days, the next level of shield will take over, all the way up to the Evo Shield. This event will carry on all the way to May 12, which is the new start date for Season 5.

The final phase, starting on May 9, will also have Double level XP on offer for all top 5 finishes. The mode will rotate at 10am PT / 1pm ET / 6pm BST on each given day:

Battle Armor LTM schedule

  • April 28 – Level 1 (White) armor only.
  • May 2 – Level 2 (Blue) armor
  • May 6 – Level 3 (Purple) armor.
  • May 9 – Evo Armor

Respawn have confirmed that this event is “just one way we are going to start experimenting with the core gameplay of Apex Legends, and we’re excited to introduce even more twists in Season 5 and beyond.”

There won’t be any shields on the ground, but there will be batteries and cells to recharge with.

When is the Battle Armor event update?

The update will go live on April 28 at approximately 10 am PT/1 pm ET/6 pm BST on all platforms.

While the season is extended for a week, all challenges will still be available to complete, and you can keep grinding in Ranked Mode for the next level. Also, if you’ve not completed the Season 4 battle pass, now is your chance.

Players have been suggesting that dropping in with a P2020 pistol could be made permanent in regular modes too. This has possibly been inspired by Call of Duty’s Warzone, which drops players in with two armor plates and a pistol by default.
