Below Deck Med’s Lara drunkenly kisses Luka, then he promotes her

Fans were sure that it would be Below Deck Med’s Luka and Nat who got together, but it’s actually Lara who made the first move on him.

While a boatmance for Season 8 hasn’t officially formed yet, love is still in the air. For starters, Stewardess Nat Scudder and Bosun Luka Brunton have not been hiding their flirting with each other.

One of the only obstacles in their way is the fact that Nat is currently in an ‘open relationship’ with her boyfriend on land. But she has doubted the guidelines around just how open their relationship actually is and what she’s allowed to do with other people.

Before Nat can figure out her open relationship and make a real move on Luka, it looks like another crew member has already captured his attention.

Did Below Deck Med’s Luka & Lara kiss?

During their crew’s night out in Episode 5, Deckhand Lara Du Preez decided to kiss Luka, who is one of her bosses, while she was visibly intoxicated.

Her defense for the surprising on-screen moment was that she likes to kiss people while drunk. She later admitted in the episode that she sees Luka as more of a brother than a boyfriend, so it doesn’t seem to have been a romantic gesture… on her part.

The day after their kiss, Luka ‘non-coincidently’ made the decision to promote her to lead deckhand, which Captain Sandy Yawn approved and Lara was ecstatic about.

Even though she has been consistently doing great work on the yacht, maybe that nighttime kiss influenced his decision more than he’s letting on.

Viewers will soon see if their friendship turns into anything more, or if Luka and Nat end up pursuing each other after all.
