Stellar Blade director Hyung-Tae Kim says the team put extra time into creating Eve’s backside while creating the game.

Stellar Blade is one of the most highly-anticipated releases of 2024 for PlayStation 5. The game received a slot during PlayStation’s State of Play on January 31, where a release date of April 26 was revealed.

Shift Up, the studio behind Stellar Blade is known for the attention to detail they bring to their characters. Most famously, the “butt jiggle” physics that was added to Gacha game Goddess of Victory: Nikke. It is yet another title where the developers spent extra time on the character’s backsides.

In an interview with Games Radar, Hyung-Tae Kim gave more insight into the creation of Eve for the upcoming single-player adventure.

Stellar Blade is “entertainment for adults”

Stellar Blade’s main character, Eve, is modeled after a South Korean model named Shin Jae-eun. According to the developers, the idea of having an “ideal” and “attractive” character was one of the game’s main points.

“When it comes to the design, we put special attention on the back of the character because the player is always facing the back of the character when they’re playing,” said Hyung-Tae Kim. “That’s what they see the most of, so we thought this was pretty important.”

Stellar Blade will be rated M when it releases on PlayStation 5, which Hyung-Tae Kim also touches on in the interview. Not only is the game’s content violent, but it seems that the fan service also plays into the rating.

“Honestly, when I play a game, I would like to see someone who is better-looking than myself,” continued Hyung-Tae Kim. “That’s what I want. I don’t want to see something normal; I want to see something more ideal. I think that is very important in a form of entertainment. This is, after all, entertainment targeted for adults.”

Players can see Eve up close and personal when the game launches on April 26. As a Sony-exclusive title, Stellar Blade will not be made available for Xbox, Nintendo Switch, or PC.
