Calling all LEGO builders. LEGO has revealed a brand-new LEGO Ideas set. Here’s what you can expect from the LEGO Ideas Red London Telephone Box when it will be available, and how much it will cost.

The K2 Telephone Box is a cultural iconic. Now, celebrating the latter’s 100th anniversary, LEGO has reimagined this quintessential British symbol in brick format. Yes, there will soon be a new LEGO Ideas set on the block, and it comes in the shape of a red London telephone box.

So, what can you expect from this LEGO Ideas model? Well, for starters, it features an array of authentic design elements reminiscent of the original. Indeed, the brick-built K2 Telephone Box remains true to Giles Gilbert Scott’s winning design of 1924.

LEGO Ideas launches Red London Telephone box

The LEGO Ideas Red London Telephone box has a domed roof, replete with Royal Crown emblems on the side panels, a fluted architrave, and decorative molding. However, whereas the real-life model is fitted with 6×3 window panes, the LEGO version ditches a row. Even so, it looks remarkably close to the original.

Stepping inside, the LEGO replica’s interior can be customized with the choice of two telephones. LEGO builders can choose between a rotary phone or a 1990s-style phone. Both feature sticker decorations. What’s more, you can light up the booth by pressing the roof. A LEGO light brick and batteries are included.

However, there is much more to this LEGO Ideas set than just the telephone box. It recreates the whole scene.

There is a buildable cobbled street, replete with a lamppost with hanging flower baskets, a flower pot, and a fence with a street sign. In addition, there’s a stand for your smartphone. How cool is that?

This kit was designed by Leicester-based LEGO fan John Cramp as part of LEGO’s Ideas program. As a reminder, this campaign allows LEGO aficionados to submit a design, which, if it receives enough votes from other LEGO lovers, can become a real LEGO set. These include kits like the LEGO Ideas The Orient Express and LEGO Ideas Polaroid OneStep SX-70 Camera

“The K2 red phone box is seen as a British cultural icon throughout the world, and we’re delighted that the LEGO Group is celebrating the 100th anniversary of its design with this model,” said Michael Smy, Head of Street at BT Group.
