The Cooper family story is coming to an end as Young Sheldon Season 7 will be the final season, with the executive producer explaining why it was the right time.

Fans have watched the Cooper family’s arguments, heartfelt, moments, and life adventures in Young Sheldon for six seasons. Season 7 will mark the end of the story and have some major events like the death of a main character.

For the season, many fans have speculated how the series will end in comparison to details from The Big Bang Theory. Sheldon is growing up and continuing his academic career which will lead to his future storyline.

While a spin-off series has already been confirmed, Young Sheldon needed to end, and here’s why.

Young Sheldon executive producer explains the show’s end

Executive producer Steve Holland confirms Young Sheldon Season 7 will be the last installment as it makes sense for the overall storyline.

According to ScreenRant, Holland spoke at The TCAs about the decision not to continue the series beyond the seventh season.

“It felt like this was the right time for that story to come to an end… to end it strong while it was still on top,” he explained.

On top it surely is. It knocked Suits off its high horse as the most streamed series after being released on Netflix. Young Sheldon also took over Nielson’s ratings over the hype that Reacher Season 2 was receiving. But above all, the final season of Young Sheldon will accurately bring Sheldon’s story to an end.

Sheldon describes he had gone to CalTech at 14 years old in The Big Bang Theory. In the series, the storyline is unfolding with Sheldon coming back from Germany and going through the steps to soon leave his family for CalTech.

There’s also the heartbreaking reality that George Sr. was confirmed to die as predicted. It’s been a long time coming as it shaped Sheldon and his sibling’s life in the original series. While fans may have wanted more of the Cooper family, it’s time for it to end.
