A new update on Stranger Things Season 5 has fans disappointed that the final season isn’t going to arrive for a very long time.

Stranger Things is starting to make a name for itself. Not just because it’s a beloved Netflix series, or an action-packed ’80s adventure, but because it takes so long to produce. If Season 5 arrives in 2025 (which at this point, might not even be likely), then it would have taken just under ten years to produce a five-season show.

Of course, some things can’t be helped. Production delays came as a result of world events and industry strikes, so a slower outcome was to be expected. However, a recent interview with Stranger Things star Millie Bobby Brown has revealed just how long of a stretch we can expect before it lands on our screens again.

Since there’s still a long, long road ahead, fans are making it clear that they’re not pleased about the wait.

Stranger Things Season 5 has nine months of filming left, and fans aren’t happy

In an interview on The Jonathan Ross Show, Millie Bobby Brown revealed that there’s nine months of shooting left on Stranger Things Season 5. With that meaning the production will take up the rest of 2024, fans are disappointed that there’s still so much left to finish.

Over on X, they’ve been sharing their shock towards the news. Clearly, everyone’s a little confused over why an eight-episode series would take that long to finish.

“That sh*t might not even come out in 2025,” one user noted. Another added: “Strange that a show needs 9 months to film 8 episodes.”

“Nine months??? How big is this season gonna be??????” another asked, while one said: “No wonder the whole cast is ready for it to end lmao.”

“I am flabbergasted that shows take this long to produce while only producing 9 episodes while series back in the day would take 6 months on practical sets and produce 24 episodes,” one user wrote.

However, some pointed out that this actually makes perfect sense. Stranger Things isn’t like other shows, in the sense that their episodes will likely be a little longer. In Season 4, the finale episode was feature-length. Considering this upcoming season will be the last, it’s more than likely that there will be other feature-length episodes to come. In a sense, Netflix could be producing eight movies, rather than eight episodes of television.

“Y’all in the quotes looking dumb as hell acting like the episodes are 20 minutes long and take 2 days to film,” one user pointed out.

Another agreed, saying: “This is what happens when every episode of a TV show is expected to be a low-mid budget feature film.”
