What happens when you accidentally make up a revenge lie that goes too far? The 2022 movie The Prank has garnered attention for its comedy horror storyline – but is it available to stream?

Comedy horror movies are classic gems, from Gremlins, Scary Movie, to Totally Killer. They’re a perfect melding of high jinks, comedic one-liners, dramatic circumstances, and high-stakes peril or dangers. In 2022, The Prank premiered at South by Southwest on March 13, 2022, with it getting acquired by Iconic Events in 2024.

The movie didn’t do so well in ratings but has recently picked up some interest. A high school teen’s future hangs in the balance when his evil teacher does something to ruin his academic career. To get back at her, she’s framed for something she didn’t do.

The Prank might be the next Friday night movie to watch, so here’s how you can watch it.

Is The Prank available to stream?

No, the movie is not currently available on any streaming platform with Iconic Events scheduling to premiere the movie in theaters.

Ben (Connor Kalopsis) is in dire need of a scholarship as his widowed mother isn’t able to afford college on her own. While so close to achieving his dream, his teacher, Mrs. Wheeler (Rita Moreno) crushes them. She reveals in her physics class that someone has cheated on the midterm, and until the culprit comes forward, they will all get a failing grade.

Spiraling into despair, Ben seeks the help of his best friend Tanner (Ramona Young). She’s the complete opposite of Ben and suggests telling a little lie. With everyone hating Mrs. Wheeler and the school having a missing student’s case, they decided to spread the lie that she killed the student.

Ben soon worried the lie will spiral out of control, and it does. The Prank may not be available on streaming platforms, but Iconic Events will bring it to the big screen in 2024.

According to Deadline, director Maureen Bharoocha said, “I’m excited to bring The Prank to the big screen so audiences can watch the legendary Rita Moreno in a way they’ve never seen her before. These days, not many movies get a chance to play in theaters, so this is truly an honor.”
