Euphoria star Dominic Fike has opened up about how the show’s sober coach failed him during Season 2’s filming.

Euphoria has become one of HBO Max’s most decisive series as it follows a teen drug addict and her high school peers as they grapple with increasingly intense situations.

While the first season was mostly seen as a critical darling, Season 2 was slammed by fans as they found the plot aimless and saw a few fan favorite characters cast aside for newcomers.

One of Season 2’s new stars, Dominic Fike, recently opened about how the show was also tough on the other side of the camera as he revealed his show sober coach failed him.

Fike says Euphoria sober coach “couldn’t relate” to him

The young actor/singer recently sat down with Variety during the Sundance Film Festival for the premiere of his new film Little Death.

During the conversation, Fike opened up on how it was tough playing his Euphoria character Elliot, another teen drug addict, thanks to his real life experience with the matter stating, “I’ve done that before, like acted like a drug addict. I actually am a pretty big drug addict myself, believe it or not. When I was on ‘Euphoria,’ they kind of just gave me a coach who would just talk to you. It was just some random lady. Jack [Begert] (Little Death’s director) is one of my best friends so it made it a lot easier, obviously.”

Fike described the coach as a “random lady that I’d never relate to. We had nothing in common. We didn’t come from the same places or the same problems. It was hard to take advice from someone like that or give a shit.”

Fike’s character on the show was deeply disliked as he drove a wedge in-between the main love relationship of Rue (Zendaya) and Jules (Hunter Schafer).

However, his fate on the series was left open ended so he could possibly return for Season 3, but Fike himself doesn’t seem sure on his return as he told Variety, “[It] would be dope, but I don’t really talk to them anymore.”
