MWC 2024 is just around the corner, and a lot of exciting phones may be announced during this event. Here’s what you can expect from the event.

MWC, short for Mobile World Congress, is an annual event held in Barcelona, Spain. It stands as the largest smartphone event, with attendance from every phone brand except Apple. MWC 2024 will be held between 26th to 29th February.

Brands generally take advantage of the MWC stage to announce new products or showcase interesting concepts. This year’s MWC will likely be the same, with announcements expected from OnePlus, Nothing, Motorola, and more.

Since it’s a mobile congress, you will be seeing a lot of phone launches here. Some may become available for purchase, while others may remain as concepts. It should also be noted that some handsets revealed will also be limited to certain regions only.

How to watch MWC 2024

MWC is an in-person event held in Barcelona, Spain. If you find yourself in Spain or nearby regions, you might as well book yourself a pass from the official website.

Members of the press or industry analysts may be able to obtain a press pass if they meet MWC’s criteria for accreditation. MWC 2024 will be held at the Fira Gran Via Expo Center, Barcelona.

Brands attending the conference typically prefer to livestream their product launches and announcements on their channels.

When is MWC 2024?

MWC 2024 will take place between January 26 to January 29. This year’s edition is slated to come alongside a slew of new smartphone announcements.

What to expect from MWC 2024

Apart from loads of smartphone launches, MWC 2024 may also witness announcements of new technologies, chips, and even EVs. Below, we discuss the products that could be announced by different brands.

OnePlus

OnePlus will be coming to MWC 2024 and it might have a few new announcements for us. We don’t expect to see new smartphones from the Chinese tech giant but a new smartwatch is on the list. OnePlus has confirmed it will be launching the new Watch 2 on February 26 at the upcoming mobile congress.

OnePlus Watch 2

The smartwatch will be the company’s first after a three-year break, and OnePlus is claiming its battery should last 100 hours in “Smart Mode.”

OnePlus may also have a few cool concepts to show us. Last year, the company showcased a smartphone with an Active CryoFlux cooling system, which OnePlus says boosts gaming performance and charging speeds.

Nothing

Nothing's invitation for MWC 2024

Nothing has been teasing the Phone 2a for quite some time now. The smartphone won’t be available in the US. Its release for other markets is scheduled for March 5, however, the company is expected to announce more details about the smartphone during MWC 2023.

Last year, Nothing and Qualcomm revealed the processor of the Phone 2. We can expect something of that sort for Nothing Phone 3 this year.

Honor

Honor is expected to announce a bunch of major products during the MWC 2024. The company has confirmed it will be launching its flagship Magic 6 series and the Magic V2 RSR foldable at the event.

These devices are already official in China, but they’ll be making their European debut on February 25 at the Barcelona-based event. Both these devices won’t make it to the US. They’ll be available for purchase in the UK and other Euro countries.

Motorola

Motorola hasn’t confirmed anything yet for the MWC 2024. However, the company always launches one or two products during the mobile conference. Leaker Evan Blass says Motorola’s parent company— Lenovo— may announce a transparent concept laptop during the event.

Xiaomi

Xiaomi products are not available in the US but the company has a strong market presence in the rest of the world. The Chinese giant has confirmed it will be introducing major smartphones during the MWC 2024. We may see the brand-new Xiaomi 14 Ultra during the event. For the unaware, the Xiaomi 14 Ultra is the latest and greatest smartphone from Xiaomi that heavily focuses on cameras.

The cameras on the phone are considered so good that renowned publications like Android Authority are calling it a full-fledged “camera disguised as a phone.” The company may also announce the Xiaomi 14 and Xiaomi 14 Pro during MWC 2024. Even the latest Xiaomi SUV could be unveiled during the event.

What about Samsung, Google, and others?

Major brands like Samsung and Google don’t seem to have big plans for MWC 2024. Samsung has its own Unpacked event for product launches, and Google has the Made By Google event. However, they both will be coming to the event. Google may announce some of its AI advancements while Samsung may talk about 5G and other tech.

As we mentioned, Apple is never present at MWC 2024 or any other event of this sort. The company likes to ignore the fact that other brands exist.
