Apple Vision Pro is heavy and causes discomfort and headaches, claim users who’ve tried the latest VR headset.

The Apple Vision Pro will hit the market on February 2, but before that, the company is letting industry experts test the units. While the VR headset is impressing many with its features, there are also concerns about its weight.

Some users even complained about getting headaches. These complaints come from reporters of two well-known publications. Both mention experiencing discomfort while trying out Apple’s newest VR headset.

Apple Vision Pro is weighing folks down

Engadget and The Verge recently published their hands-on experiences with the Apple Vision Pro (h/t Notebookcheck). While Apple had previously let folks try the Vision Pro, this time it’s different because the headset is now more polished and set to be shipped next month.

The Verge’s Victoria Song writes they spent half an hour with the headset, testing its display and spatial video capabilities. “By the end of my demo, I started to feel the weight of the headset bring me back to the real world. I’d been furrowing my brow, concentrating so hard, I felt the beginnings of a mild headache,” they write.

A similar experience was shared by Engadget’s Cherlynn Low, who wrote “15 minutes into my experience, I started to feel weighed down by the device, and five more minutes later, I was in pain.”

It’s possible that these discomforts could be avoided by using the right mix of straps and light seals which Apple will be shipping for free. The company is also reported to perform a face scan to determine the right fit for your head.

This is not the first time we’ve heard concerns about Vision Pro’s weight. YouTuber Marques Brownlee has previously complained about the headset being heavy, saying, “ wow this thing is really, heavy, not sure how long I’d be able to wear this.”

You will be able to try the Vision Pro for yourself starting February 2. Pre-orders start January 19. Before pulling the trigger, you might want to know how it compares to the more affordable Meta Quest 3.
