Sports lovers thank Taylor Swift for increasing her fans’ interest in NFL

Taylor Swift, dubbed the “Queen of Pop” by her fans and outlets alike, has made countless headlines for her dating life, which features plenty of big-name celebrities in the mix.
Her latest relationship with Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce has drawn more attention than ever. Appearing at many of her boyfriend’s games, Swift has become the talk of the sports world.
Now, NFL fans are thanking the pop star for increasing interest in the sport, taking to X (formerly Twitter) to share how Swift’s dating life has brought them closer to their loved ones.
Dustin Nickerson revealed Swift’s relationship with Kelce resulted in his wife engaging with the sport. He wrote, “My wife just asked me my thoughts on Jason Kelce’s retirement. [Three] months [ago] she did not know that he, nor the Philadelphia Eagles for the matter, even existed.”
He went on to thank Swift, stating the pop star was “literally bringing people together.” And Nickerson has not been the only one to reap the unexpected benefits of Swift and Kelces’ relationship.
Jordan Strack tweeted, “Say whatever you want about Taylor Swift [and] the NFL. My 12-year-old daughter just asked me to point out Jason Kelce [and] it spurred an entire conversation about why [linemen] have the numbers they do. I love her beyond words, but the kid never cares about football. That was cool.”
“I don’t get the hate from football fans about [Swift]. If anything, she brought new people to the game,” one X user wrote in response to Strack’s post. Another said, “Girls and women are so often excluded from these spaces in the first place and then struggle to find their own connection in. All we needed was an introduction, and we all [came] to love the game naturally.”
Some even shared their own stories of connecting to family members over the sport; “It’s absolutely amazing! I found my 12-year-old daughter watching 9er highlights today and then she proceeded to tell me that Kyle Juszczyk’s wife Kristin made Taylor Swift’s snow jacket for the game. It was our greatest conversation to date. I personally thank Taylor as a father.”
