Love Island All Stars brought 12 contestants from across the history of the show to have another chance at finding love, but Jake Cornish quit after the first episode of the new ITV series.

The new spin-off of the Love Island franchise started airing early in January but the premiere was more unexpected than fans anticipated.

Love Island All Stars was exclusively made for ex-islanders from the UK series. Among the returning cast were Molly Smith, Callum Jones, Mitchel Taylor, Liberty Poole, Luis Morrison, Demi Jones, Jake Cornish, and Hannah Elizabeth. Maya Jama also returned to host this season of Love Island: All-Stars.

Jake Cornish was among the contestants of Love Island Season 7 and was paired with co-star Liberty Poole before their relationship’s unceremonious ending. He was cast again on the spin-off, but chose to leave the Island after spending just three days there.

Why did Jake Cornish leave the villa?

Jake Cornish and Liberty Poole were partnered during Season 7 and their pairing did not end well.

The two were cast once again for Love Island All-Stars and Jake was shocked to see his ex walk through the villa doors. Then during the premiere, viewers discovered that the two were coupled by fans through public vote.

When Maya Jama announced the coupling Jake exclaimed “I knew it!” The ex-islander expressed disappointment and it seemed that he was uncomfortable being coupled with his ex-girlfriend. After a chat with the host about a possible recoil, he chose to walk off the villa.

Contestant Chris Taylor standing beside Liberty said: “Well this is a fantastic start isn’t it, you’re going to have to have it out. Have you two spoken?” Liberty admitted that the two hadn’t talked in two years.

Love Island: All Stars premiered on ITV on January 15, 2024. The series will be available live on free-to-air channel ITV2 every night at 9pm GMT in the UK. ITVX blocks access from IP addresses outside of the UK, so if you’re outside the country you will be able to watch the show by downloading ExpressVPN.
