Daisy Kent told Joey that she wears a cochlear implant on The Bachelor, but fans accused producers of defining her by her disability.

Joey Graziadei’s connection with Daisy Kent grew on The Bachelor Season 28 after they shared a one-on-one date together.

Daisy revealed that she wears a cochlear implant due to hearing loss, and faced many other medical issues in the past that came from having Lyme Disease.

After the second group date on episode 3, Daisy and Joey sat down to talk once again to catch up with each other.

Daisy apologized to Joey for sharing a lot of information at once, and asked him if he wanted to touch her cochlear implant to get a better understanding of how it works.

Bachelor fans accuse production of manipulating Daisy’s scenes

On Reddit, fans accused Bachelor producers of pushing Daisy’s hearing disability as a storyline instead of focusing on other parts of her life.

“I don’t like the narrative around Daisy. It seems like everything is about her cochlear implant. And I understand that’s part of who she is but it’s like, can we get to know HER. her likes, passions, dreams,” the original poster wrote.

“They are frankenbiting her. The editors drop ‘cochlear implants’ into her convos all the time…” another fan added.

A different fan chimed in and said, “She doesn’t have a choice in how they edit her story line, she might have told him about her love of the snow, the lakes, her family, what her future goals are, what she learned in college. We don’t know because production shows us what they want to show us.”

The Bachelor franchise has evolved over the years by including more contestants who have disabilities, but fans feel that producers are taking advantage of it for the wrong reasons.

Viewers don’t want Daisy to be defined by her disability, and believe she could still be a great match for Joey outside of that.

Joey has already gained a new appreciation for Daisy because she was honest with him, but producers might edit her scenes in future episodes as the season continues.

The Bachelor airs Mondays at 8:00 p.m. ET on ABC.
