The Bachelor's Lea Cayanan

Lea Cayanan is the new villain on The Bachelor Season 28, and fans think she was chosen by producers to amp up the drama.

After Sydney Gordon was eliminated on The Bachelor Season 28, Lea Cayanan stepped in as the new mean girl.

During a group date in Spain on Episode 5, Lea became jealous every time Maria Georgas had one-on-one time with Joey Graziadei.

Lea was still upset that Maria got to stay on the show while Sydney was sent home, because she took her side in a fight about ageism between her and Medina Alam.

Even though Lea had nothing to do with the argument, she continued to act bitter toward Maria when she was only trying to defend Medina in a pointless fight.

Bachelor fans blame producers for changing Lea’s personality

On Reddit, Bachelor fans criticized Lea for changing her personality when Sydney left, and accused the producers of having something to do with it.

“My husband thinks Lea is a producer plant and I can’t help but agree with how quickly she changed after the Sydney thing. She started off so sweet, but now she can kick rocks…” one fan said.

“Officially convinced Lea is a production plant because she just has to be,” another fan agreed.

“For sure her acting like this so suddenly is crazy. Esp considering she gave up being able to steal a one-one date pass,” a different user chimed in.

While it hasn’t been confirmed if Lea is here for the right reasons or if she was prompted by producers, fans feel that her place on the show seems odd.

She had an opportunity to meet Joey at Charity Lawson’s After The Final Rose special, where she was given an envelope allowing her to steal a one-on-one date from any Season 28 contestant.

Lea threw the envelope into the fire on the first night because she didn’t want to take a date away from another contestant, so her villainous ways are starting to confuse fans.

The Bachelor airs Mondays at 8:00 p.m. ET on ABC.
