Pokemon Go players have called for Niantic to spice up Team Go Rocket’s balloon designs—specifically to make them more scary.

With the recent takeover event, Team Go Rocket has been on the minds of many Pokemon Go fans through the start of 2024.

While Team Rocket’s Pokemon lineup for both the Grunts and the big bosses of the evil organization see major changes every so often, the evil team’s iconic aesthetic has always stayed the same.

Now, some fans have called on Niantic to shake up Team Rockets’ look, as one fan argued the evil team should look more intimidating after all these years.

Pokemon Go fans want Team Rocket to look scarier

A post on the Pokemon Go subreddit gained traction after one trainer said, “Team Rocket’s balloon design should be more scary in my opinion.”

The OP included a concept of what the future Balloons could look like, showing a Balloon from Clash of Clans as an inspiration for a new look’s direction.

Plenty of fans wished to see more variance in the aesthetics of Team Go Rocket’s ballons. “They should also bring back the James and Jesse balloons,” said one fan.

This was in reference to the anime character’s introductions to the mobile game many years ago, though the dastardly duo has not made a resurgence in some time.

While some fans were certainly open to the idea of themed Team Rocket balloons during certain events, like Halloween, others said that they’d miss the iconic design.

“As someone who has put up with Team Rocket shenanigans for the last 25 years, their ballons being black with a large red R on them is entirely on character for them,” argued one fan.

Another trainer said, “They are Cartoon villains stealing magical animals from kids… For one they are plenty evil. For another the design just fits.”

While it certainly would be interesting to see Team Go Rocket’s balloons change with the season or holiday, it’s hard to argue that the iconic Black design with the massive ‘R’ isn’t already perfect.
