How to claim Pokemon Sword & Shield’s free 50BP mystery gift
Pokemon / NintendoGame Freak have released a brand new 50 Battle Points mystery gift for Pokemon Sword and Shield, but it’s not claimed in the same way as all of the others that have been released previously with codes.
For those who don’t already know, Battle Points (BP) is an in-game currency that can be spent right across the Galar Region, and can be obtained after winning inside the Battle Tower.
While winning match after match inside the tower might seem like quite the grind, there are other means to getting ahold of the valuable currency. If you’re looking to get 50 without doing the hard yards, then you’ve come to the right place.
The game’s developers have revealed the official rankings for the Galar Newcomers Online Competition, which took place between January 23 and 26, meaning players can now check them.
This might sound like we’ve went a bit off track here, but don’t worry, it all feeds into what you have to do to collect your bonus. A step-by-step guide can be found below.
How to get more Battle Points in Pokemon
- Start off by clicking the VS menu.
- From there, select the Battle Stadium feature to check previous competitions.
- Check the Galar Newcomers Online Competition rankings.
- Once you have checked the rankings for the competition, go back into the previous menu and select Mystery Gift.
- Collect your Mystery Gift, which will be 50BP.
What to buy with Pokemon BP in Sword & Shield
Getting more BP is one thing, but some of you may still be wondering what you can actually spend them on.
Well, if you’re on that boat, let’s take a look at a few options available to you in Pokemon Sword and Shield. Remember though, to compete at the Battle Tower and earn more Battle Points you will have had to complete the game’s story.
There are a few options available to you, now that you have some extra BP just laying around, and some of the items that can be purchased using them can be seen above. As you can probably tell already, having 50 will take you a long way as well, with some items being sold for just 2-10BP each.
One other option, and there are plenty to choose from, is mints.
We have much more information on mints in our comprehensive candy guide for Pokemon Sword & Shield, they can be really useful as they allow trainers to modify the nature of their Pokemon. Mints, however, cost 50BP a pop, meaning you can buy just one of them with the rewards from this activity.
There are plenty more free Battle Points available to collect in the game, though, don’t worry. All mystery gift codes can be found here. So, don’t spend all of your rewards in one place!
