Overwatch has been a hit with first-person shooter fans ever since its release in 2016, and its large roster of characters has something for everyone.

A female Moira main was proposed to by her partner, and he used Overwatch’s very own Workshop mode to profess his love for her.

An Overwatch proposal

YouTuber ‘Alex Watson’ uploaded the video of the marriage offer on October 24. Titled “Moirajump proposal”, the clip shows the boyfriend getting his lover to play a custom Moira Workshop mode he’d made for her.

The mode appeared to be a practice range for Moira’s super jump – a tactic used by players to access high areas with the hero, and it is performed by jumping whilst using her Fade ability. The course featured multiple yellow beacons that had to be jumped through.

Little did the girlfriend know, the positioning of the yellow beams spelled out “MARRY ME” – something which later caused her to scream out “F*CK YOU!” in emotion upon realizing she’d been tricked all along.

The Workshop mode plan was a success though, as the creator’s now-fiancee said a huge yes to the creative Overwatch themed proposal.

In a Reddit post, the boyfriend went into a little more depth as to why he created a Moira-specific mode to pop the question.

“My girlfriend has been a Moira main since her release, and Overwatch in general has been a mainstay of our relationship,” he said. “When it came time to propose I knew I had to do something Overwatch. I’m a programmer, so when the workshop was released I started scheming ways to use that as a springboard.”

While video games have been used in marriage proposals many times before, there’s an extra element of personalization when a level or game mode is created from scratch for the purpose of professing love.

Overwatch continues to be one of the most popular multiplayer games, so it comes as no surprise that it would eventually play a huge factor in a couple’s relationship – this will be something to tell the grandkids.
