Well, Amazon Game Studios has outlined that beta progress will not be transferable when the game launches on August 31, 2021.

“After the many improvements and changes we made to New World between Closed Alpha and Beta, we will not be carrying over player progression,” says the developer. “It’s time to start fresh and experience all the changes for yourself!” 

Many New World beta players will likely be disappointed by this announcement, but it is a move that will enable everyone to start on a level playing field. Instead, it’s best to treat the beta as a practice run where you can trial different builds, learn weapon mechanics, and get a good feel for your surroundings.
