Lights out and away we go: the LEGO Technic Mercedes-AMG F1 W14 race car is now available

It’s lights out and away we go. The Mercedes-AMG W14-inspired LEGO Technic set is finally on sale. Here’s what you can expect.

Released with the start of the 2024 Formula 1 season, the LEGO Technic Mercedes-AMG F1 W14 Performance for adults aged 18 and up is now available. Yup, it’s lights out and away it goes on to shelves (and online, of course).

Priced at $219.99, here’s what you can expect from this new LEGO Technic set.

Comprising 1642 pieces, this LEGO-reimagined F1 race car is sure to provide F1 fanatics with an immersive and rewarding building experience. Dressed in the real-life version’s authentic black-and-Petronas-green livery, the kit sports a host of intricate details reminiscent of the original that competed in last year’s F1 season. 

The LEGO-reimagined Mercedes-AMG F1 W14 features a six-cylinder engine, replete with moving pistons, and a differential. Both of these items are revealed when removing the engine cover. In addition, the set is equipped with working steering, which can be operated by turning the steering wheel or a knob sited atop the model.

However, that’s not all. The large rear wing can be opened. Yup, there’s DRS. A set of slick tires is also present. 

When all pieces have been clicked together, the 1:8 scale model measures five inches tall, 10 inches wide, and 25 inches long. Considering all of its accurate detailing and size, this LEGO Technic kit is sure to make for a spectacular centerpiece. Indeed, it will look great when displayed in your home or office.

However, this isn’t the only F1-inspired set LEGO has recently released. Indeed, there’s another one taking inspiration from Mercedes-AMG’s 2023 racer. What’s more, the latter model — the LEGO Technic Mercedes-AMG F1 W14 E Performance Pull-Back —  was designed for F1 fans aged seven and up.

So, while you build the kit featured here (or one of the best LEGO Technic sets for adults), the kids can join in the fun.
