Riot adding more League of Legends items to balance Season 11 rework

The mega League of Legends Season 11 item rework has only just sunk in for most players, but Riot aren’t done yet. Three new items are coming to Summoner’s Rift, for top laners and supports, to try and further balance the overhaul.

With dozens of new items in Season 11, League of Legends players had to put their homework in to wrap their heads around the rework. Get ready for an extra test though with three new additions to Boris’ collection.

The new items are designed specifically to fill the voids left in the wake of pre-season, as well as bolster some roles that have been neglected for some time, including split pushers and enchanter supports.

Preseason 2021 is going to take out some items while introducing new Mythic ones.
The new League of Legends shop in Season 11 has taken some getting used to.

New top lane items help — and hinder — split pushers

Two new items are coming to the top lane: An entirely new “bind” item, and a big Sanguine Blade rework.

The binding item will work like Knight’s Vow or Zeke’s Convergence, but instead you’ll bind to an enemy. It’ll grant you damage reduction against a specific enemy, making it great for dealing with strong split pushers or hypercarries in teamfights.

As for Sanguine Blade, it’s now called Hullbreaker. Riot wanted to open it up to “any AD champion focused on side laning as their win condition.”

It has lost its Lethality, but the tradeoff will be more beneficial stats to siege towers and take down enemies in 1vX situations. This includes an armor and magic resist buff when no allies are nearby and increased tower damage, as well as minions buffs like the old Banner of Command.

New enchanter item gives supports more resistances

Finally, the new Enchanter item is coming, giving squishy supports some extra defenses.

“The new item will provide burst resistance in the vein of Zhonya’s Hourglass, but with a much more supportive bend,” lead game designer Jeevun ‘Jag’ Sidhu said.

These aren’t the only changes Riot are planning on making though. The item rework is forever evolving, and plenty more changes are expected come pre-Season 12. There’s “no firm plans” yet, but more details will be revealed in the second half of the year.

Space Groove Lulu is the enchanter's first Prestige skin.
Enchanters like Lulu might have a better chance against burst champions with the new support item.

The items will start shipping in League of Legends patch 11.13, starting with Hullbreaker. The enchanter item, as well as the top lane “bind” build, will come later in the summer.
