PS5 exclusive Stellar Blade has received an adults-only rating in South Korea for its depiction of nudity and violence.

Stellar Blade is no stranger when it comes to making headlines. This is largely down to the design behind the main character Eve, who Director Hyung-Tae Kim believes is one of the game’s main selling points.

Eve has even been modeled after a famous Korean model, which Kim notes as having “the most attractive-looking body.” The director also famously revealed how his team put “extra special attention” into the creation of Eve’s backside

So, it will likely come as no surprise that Stellar Blade has received an adults-only rating in Korea.

Stellar Blade’s main character has been modeled with fan service in mind.

According to Korean website, This Is Game, there are two main reasons for determining the rating revealed by the Game Commission. The statement reads as follows:

“There is direct explicit expression of body exposure, such as the female character appearing to be naked among the costumes, and there is expression of violence including expression of the character’s mutilated body and expression of red blood during the game.”

Of course, this will come as no surprise as Kim noted how Stellar Blade is “entertainment targeted for adults.” When discussing the reasons behind Eve’s design, the director said:

“Honestly, when I play a game, I would like to see someone who is better-looking than myself,” continued Hyung-Tae Kim. “That’s what I want. I don’t want to see something normal; I want to see something more ideal. I think that is very important in a form of entertainment.”

Eve also has a lot of outfits that players can unlock, with many of them being revealing and providing fan service. Combine this with the heavy emphasis on blood and visceral combat, and it’s not surprising Stellar Blade has received such a rating.

PEGI and ESRB have yet to review their classifications for Stellar Blade, but it will likely receive a similar age rating when it releases later this year.
