Almost a full decade on from the original’s release, Helldivers 2 is now out in the wild and the long-in-development title has emerged with a bang. Shattering Sony records right out the gate, it’s clear players are loving the alien-exterminating fight for democracy.

With a never-ending grind to keep the community satiated, it’s all a matter of optimizing your strategy and playstyle. So with that in mind, you might be wondering how to change your perspective on the fly.

Here’s how you can swap from the standard third-person view to a first-person POV in Helldivers 2.

How to swap to First-Person in Helldivers 2

Swapping to first-person in Helldivers 2 is as simple as clicking in the right stick on controller, or tapping the middle mouse button on PC.

This can be done on the fly at any given moment, so long as you’re aiming down sights to begin with. You can’t enter first-person mode at any other time, though if you prefer this style, it will default back to an FPS view each time from there until you manually swap back over.

There are obvious advantages to swapping your POV in Helldivers 2. In some instances, having that FPS accuracy can help in long-range gunfights, especially with snipers or semi-auto rifles. But there will be times it can work against you too, especially in close-range fights when enemies are swarming all around.

So be sure to mix it up from time to time, giving yourself the best of both worlds regardless of the fight ahead.
