A Diablo 4 player has slammed this specific in-game mechanic as “insanly frustrating” as it holds them back from doing certain things.

Since Season of the Construct was launched in Diablo 4 just a few weeks ago, the game has received several adjustments and bug fixes, as seen from some recent patch notes. However, some players are still demanding for several things to be tweaked.

From patching down crafting requirements to adding a missing feature from the previous game, the list doesn’t seem to end. And recently, one player has also brought up one “insanely frustrating” issue holding them back when doing specific in-game actions.

In a Reddit thread, a user has poured out their frustration regarding the channeling mechanic, referring to how they would get interrupted when taking damage in the middle of an interaction.

“Cleared screen, grab the stone? Random f****ing spider walks up from offscreen and spits at you for 1 dmg but cancels your channel,” they explained.

The user mentioned that random dungeon affixes and projectiles would also interrupt channeling happen so often, yet that’s not even the worst part. They said, “Got poisoned? Well, have fun, wait 10s+ for the ticks to finally stop and then you can start channeling…”

Annoyed by these, they suggested that players should be able to continue channeling despite taking damage. Users commenting on the thread seem to be split on this idea. A portion of them seem to agree, while some of the others are not too keen on it.

Diablo 4 players are frustrated by the game’s channeling mechanics.

“Agreed. Why do we need to channel ‘Pick up crucial object’ anyway, it’s so weird,’ ‘ one user wrote. Another user requested that channeling be removed altogether, as it’s such an “antiquated system.”

Some players argued that the mechanic is part of the game. In the comments, one user pointed out that it’s intended to stop players from picking up something and leaving without killing anything.

“That’s the whole point of the mechanic. You have to kill the mobs. I’m grind averse but even I am not bothered by that one,” said another.

Aside from that, some players don’t seem bothered with it, with one claiming they’re fine with enemies interrupting. Though the poison damage after everything is dead “is a little wonky.”
