Warzone players reminisce about when sniping was “accepted”

Warzone players are reflecting on a time when sniping was widely “accepted and enjoyed” in the Call of Duty community.

Not unlike the rest of the Call of Duty franchise, Warzone services many types of playstyles, including those centered around the use of sniper rifles.

Warzone’s Sniper Rifle class isn’t exactly a well-liked one, however. In past Warzone iterations, players have complained about the weapons feeling underpowered. Strange glitches, balancing troubles, and other issues have made snipers less than desirable, too.

But longtime Call of Duty fans fondly remember a period when sniping was fun and generally accepted.

Warzone players miss when sniping was enjoyable

Reddit user Sydarmx shared a gameplay clip of someone going ham with a sniper rifle in an older version of the Call of Duty battle royale. The video shows the player downing several enemies in quick succession with a powerful rifle whose bullets obviously pack quite a punch.

“When warzone sniping was accepted and enjoyed. This is what it looked like,” the user wrote. “This is what we need to get back to,” they added, noting that the AX50 and HDR guns made for “long-range nutty shots.”

Most people in the comments seem to agree with this thinking. Reads one popular reply: “We were having the time of our lives without even realizing it.”

Another Redditor said of the original Warzone experience, “Wz1 is so much better than this trash we are all playing.”

Others noted that the gameplay clip shows how much more balanced Warzone used to look and feel. One fan wrote, “None of that looked as clunky and slow as the new game and all those snipes were headshots, no breaking of shields or unrealistic hit box[es]…”

Warzone faithful aren’t the only Call of Duty fans taking a walk down memory lane of late. MW3 players have also been reminiscing, specifically recalling the joys of free character customization compared to the current frustrations of pricey operator skins.
