North American esports organization have announced the signing of the reigning Call of Duty World Champions from Evil Geniuses, plus retaining Cuyler “Huke” Garland.

The roster announcement was a surprise to many, as it had not been circling in the rumor mill. Envy founder Mike “Hastr0” Rufail released the news with a video and via the Team Envy website.

Huke remains on the roster and is joined by Patrick “ACHES” Price, Bryan “Apathy” Zhelyazkov, Adam “Assault” Garcia and Justin “SiLLY” Fargo.

Envy have released their previous team, with the exception of Huke. All three of the other now former Envy players, Nicholas “Classic” DiCostanzo, Jacob “Decemate” Cato and Martin “Chino” Chino have confirmed they are restricted free agents.

“Envy Gaming announced significant changes to the Team Envy Call of Duty lineup, signing four players who recently won the 2018 Call of Duty World League Championship: Patrick “ACHES” Price, Bryan “Apathy” Zhelyazkov, Adam “Assault” Garcia and Justin “SiLLy” Fargo-Palmer, all formerly of Evil Geniuses, will join Team Envy and pair with Envy COD player Cuyler “Huke” Garland.”

Hastr0 explained the roster decision in a Twitter video, saying they wanted to give Envy fans “the absolute best shot at winning a world championship”.

It is also confirmed that the former Evil Geniuses coach Embry “Bevils” Bevil will also be moving with the EG squad over to Envy, and will continue his coaching role.

Evil Geniuses has thanked the team for their time and bringing home a world championship for the organization, but have not given any details on a new Call of Duty roster. They have however confirmed that they will “retool” for next season, so are not departing CoD esports altogether.
