Every known Apex Legends cheat and how to report someone

Paul Cotton

Apex Legends has now been out for two weeks. While the release has gone well, there have been the inevitable reports of cheating.

Apex Legends Cheats

With any major game release, especially a competitive shooter like Apex Legends, cheating is going to be an inevitability. Unfortunately numerous reports and videos have already surfaced highlighting this.

The level of cheats vary from extra sensory perception cheats (ESP) to the more blatant aim-bots and wall-hacking. These “additional information” cheats essentially show information that wouldn’t be available without cheating. This includes showing:

  • Player name
  • Enemy health
  • Distance away

Well-known and game-ruining cheats are also being sold to players looking to gain an unfair advantage. Among these are the cheats that gamers traditionally associate with cheating.

These more advanced cheats, which have already been seen in Apex Legends, include:

  • Radar hack
  • Aim-bot
  • Target lock
  • Adjustable FOV

In addition to this, factors such as bullet drop and bullet speed are calculated within the aimbot to increase the likelihood even further of a kill. Moreover, these cheats can be hidden from the overlay so they can’t be seen when streaming.

Reporting Cheaters

EA have already been busy with cheaters on Apex Legends. On February 16, EA confirmed that they had already banned 16,000 players. This 16,000 likely doesn’t include other cheaters who have yet to be identified.

Consequently, players are not only being urged to report cheaters but are asking how they can do so. As of writing, there is no in-game cheat reporting functionality.

Instead, Apex Legends players are being asked to report cheats through the EA website.

Within this online form you are asked to enter your player ID. This is to allow EA to analyze log files which presumably will help determine whether cheating occurred.

The most important information comes in the “specify your report” box. This will be the place to enter all the information regarding the cheat. As the first box is for your own player ID, it is essential that this report includes the suspected cheater’s ID as well as the approximate time of the game, etc.

This may not be the best system to report cheats and Respawn have acknowledged this. In a lengthy update from the Apex Legend developers, they said, in regards to cheating: “Even if you don’t get proof, get their ID and flag it and we can investigate the account. We have heard your feedback about a report feature in the game. I’ll just say that’s a very good idea
