Everyone loves Danny DeVito, including the cast of Netflix’s One Piece. Stars of the live-action adaptation have made it clear they want DeVito to make an appearance, in whatever role suits him.

Despite the odds stacked against it, the live-action One Piece Netflix show managed to be a smash hit. Replicating the adventurous vibe of the anime and manga, the series brought Luffy and his pirate pals to life in a way that satisfied longtime fans, and introduced a whole other generation to the Straw Hats.

Now that the first season is done and dusted, conversations are happening about the second. One Piece Season 2 will need to up the ante, not just because the anime show goes to some extraordinary places, but also because there are so many characters that could be introduced.

Who might appear? That’s a long list, but one actor the cast would like to see is Danny DeVito, of It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia and Batman Returns fame.

One Piece cast want Danny DeVito in season 2

Iñaki Godoy and Jacob Romero, who play Luffy and Usopp in Netflix’s One Piece, told Deadline that Danny DeVito is top of their list of possible guest stars.

“We would love to find a way to put Danny DeVito in,” Romero said, with Godoy adding: “Just come here man! I want to do anything with Danny DeVito.” Neither of them offer any possibilities for DeVito’s role, simply stating he could be “anyone he wants”.

Fans have some suggestions. Wapol is the consensus on X, formerly Twitter, the former king of the Drum Kingdom who becomes a toymaker after losing a battle with the Straw Hats. What part of that wouldn’t Danny DeVito eat up? All for it, personally.

DeVito has actually come up a few times for live-action One Piece over the years, with the suggestion he could be Big Mom, a, err, bombastic captain who was once a more prominent leader of the New World, or Gaiman, a short hermit who wears a barrel. The list is long, and DeVito would make good on all of them.

The important part is that it happens — Netflix, seriously, this is an easy win! While we wait for more on One Piece season 2, check out our guide on Demon Slayer season 4 and our list of the best anime movies on Netflix.
