Scream star still “hasn’t got a call” to return for 7

The status of Scream 7 is up in the air as it has lost its two leading actors and director, with no clear indicator of where it’s headed as one star revealed she hasn’t gotten the call to reprise her role.

The Scream franchise may be in trouble after its long history as a horror icon. Scream 5 introduced a new cemented group of characters to follow. Jenna Ortega and Melissa Barrera starred in the leading roles. They starred as sisters with Barrera as Samantha Carpenter, the daughter of Billy Loomis.

Fans praised the new cast of actors and characters as saw the legacy of Scream continue. But it hit rough waters when Barrera was fired for her comments on the Israel-Gaza turmoil. Following her departure, Ortega also left Scream 7, and soon so did its director.

As for the rest of the cast, it’s unclear if they will return at all. One actor has already revealed she hasn’t heard from SpyGlass.

The cast for Scream 7 is unclear

Actor Jasmin Savoy Brown revealed in an interview she hasn’t been contacted by SpyGlass to reprise her role as Mindy Meeks-Martin for Scream 7.

Speaking to Brown at the Emmys after-party, Entertainment Tonight got the scoop on whether the actor will return. They asked Brown what would be her response if she got called to return for Scream 7.

“I haven’t gotten a call. So, I think if you want to ask SpyGlass what they’re doing you can. I haven’t gotten the call” said Brown. This comes as an upsetting realization that she might not return for the next movie. It’s unlikely as it has lost both Barrera and Ortega.

In the interview, Brown spoke highly of her cast mates as they got to reunite at the Emmys after-party including Scream franchise alumn Skeet Ulrich. When it comes to her co-star Ortega, she said, “She’s my heart and soul. I’ll protect her forever.”

Brown played the role of Mindy Meeks-Martin, one of Tara’s (Ortega) friends from school who is a big horror fan. She also happens to be Randy Meeks’s niece and knows all the rules of surviving a horror.

With Brown also commenting on the impact and hard work the “core four” did, it seems that the actor is devoted to her cast mates. Brown has not publically commented on Barrera’s firing or Ortega’s exit. But her comments speak loudly about her thoughts on Scream 7.

Since the news of Barrera and Ortega, actor Mason Gooding has also not made a public comment on his return to Scream 7. The actor starred as Chad Meeks-Martin, Mindy’s brother.
