A woman is going viral after finding a pack of chicken with a massive $224 price tag at Costco, and viewers are shocked.

It’s not uncommon to see the prices of goods increase lately, what with the state of the economy, taxes and other elements – but paying over $200 for chicken at Costco has many people concerned.

In a viral video, a woman named Cass, who goes by ‘theszabomorgans’ on TikTok, showed off a wild find while shopping at a Costco in Vancouver, Canada and issued a stark warning to her viewers.

“This is for anyone thinking of moving to Canada. Our food prices are outrageous,” she said before revealing the price of a pack of drumsticks slapped with price tags of $202 and $224.

Is Costco actually selling chicken for over $200?

Cass concluded her video by urging anyone who watches the clip not to move to Canada, calling it the “moral of the story.”

Users in the comments were equally as appalled by the price tag, but began pondering if there may have been a mistake by the store.

Costco has famously refused to increase the price of its $1.50 hot dog in the past, so it’s surprising to see the company start selling chicken for such a massive mark up.

Sure enough, viewers may have found the answer. “I called Costco, those are 22 bucks,” someone said.

“I bought the same pack for $22. That’s clearly a label mistake,” another chimed in.

YouTuber Marie Oakes also did her own investigation and determined how the error came to be: “Apparently, an employee mislabeled the item from $9.99/kg to $99.99/kg causing the insane price,” she said. “However, even $22-24 for a few pounds of drumsticks is pretty insane.”

While this situation may have just been a mistake, it’s possible that one unlucky customer ended up actually forking out a couple hundred dollars for the chicken.

Speaking of chicken, Chick-Fil-A has also come under fire for its rising prices in recent years, with customers blaming “greed” for the skyrocketing cost of food.
