‘Hairgate’ is the latest drama taking over TikTok after a Kylie Jenner lookalike’s hair transformation didn’t turn out the way she’d hoped. Here’s everything you need to know.

TikTok star Taylor Madison has gained viral fame for her uncanny resemblance to Kylie Jenner, gaining over 700K followers thanks to her similarity to the reality TV star.

In fact, she’s been compared to Kylie so much that she’s making efforts to change her appearance to avoid the constant comments — even going so far as to dye her hair blonde.

Over the last few months, Madison has been bleaching and cutting her hair in an attempt to drastically change her looks… but after bleaching her hair three times, it began falling out.

TikTok’s #hairgate drama explained

In a now-deleted TikTok video, Madison tearfully updated viewers about her hair situation, saying she might have to “shave it all off at this point.”

Enter Alfredo Lewis, a TikTok-famous hair color specialist who offered to help Madison finally get the hair transformation she was working toward after many failed attempts.

The two finally linked up in late early March, along with stylist Philip Wolff, to transform her hair… but fans weren’t happy with the results.

Madison had previously expressed a desire to change her hair from dark brown to blonde, as well as get extensions to lengthen her hair after cutting it so short, as expressed in a comment beneath Lewis’s video reaching out to her.

However, the results of her ‘transformation’ were the complete opposite of a long, blonde mane. Instead, Madison’s hair was still short and coppery-brown, leaving viewers puzzled and outraged on her behalf.

“I wonder if she’s as disappointed as we are,” one viewer wrote.

“The orange stripes omg, I would cry all the way home,” another commented.

“Y’all did not deliver on this one,” yet another said.

Lewis has since responded to the outrage over Madison’s hair revival, showing that the TikToker had sent him a message thanking him for his help the next day where she claimed she was “in love” with her new look.

“I think that Taylor looks beautiful with a bob,” Lewis said. “But I would have her back any time to LA.”

Now, Taylor has given her side of the story, claiming she’d specifically said in a phone call that she wanted extensions. She even showed off the photos she used as inspiration for the color, saying Lewis did “really good” with the balayage — but that the stylist wouldn’t give her extensions, since the company supposedly “didn’t want to work with him.”

That’s not all; she also revealed that she “got home and cried” after the appointment. On top of that, Madison says she had multiple hair companies in her DMs offering to help, but chose Lewis because she trusted his work.

“It is beautiful, but it’s not my cup of tea,” she explained. “…it’s my fault for not communicating enough while I was there, but I’ve always been taught to be thankful, and you get what you get, but you don’t throw a fit. …but I was also very sad and a little bit brokenhearted that I didn’t get what I wanted.”

After Taylor’s video went viral, Lewis offered his final response to the drama, claiming he was “really sad” about her reaction to his work and claiming that she’d even blocked him.

“It’s just such lies, and I don’t know why she’s doing this. I honestly don’t know. We loved Taylor. We had the best time with Taylor. She was so happy.”

Overall, Lewis appeared confused by Taylor’s apparent change of heart after the fact, despite telling him she was happy with the cut and color… but commenters aren’t buying his take on the situation, with many continuing to call him out for seemingly failing to honor her wishes.

“I feel like she said she loved it because she didn’t wanna upset y’all,” a viewer wrote.

“She said she wanted LONG hair, not a bob,” another said.

“Why do you keep saying ‘FOR FREE’ as if you didn’t reach out to HER?” another argued. “She didn’t reach out to YOU! You offered to accommodate her for clout.”

Madison wasn’t done yet. On March 7, she uploaded another TikTok video claiming that Lewis barely spoke with her “the entire time” she was there, and even said he was discussing his potential payday from the transformation with Philip Wolff.

“I really do feel like they used the sh*t out of me, and it’s f*cked up,” she said. “…the only reason he didn’t do the extensions was because he wasn’t gonna get paid by them. He told me he had lots of extensions there, he just didn’t want to use them.”

For now, it looks like the #hairgate saga is at an end, and it’s unclear if Madison will ever end up getting the extensions she wanted to begin with.
