Over the years, many specs and builds have fallen by the wayside in World of Warcraft. Now, some of the game’s players think the release of The War Within expansion could be the perfect time for one of those to return.

The main purpose of The War Within is to open up the next major phase in WoW’s life cycle. In an unusual move, Blizzard announced it as the first of three expansions that form The Worldsoul Saga. This then functions as one complete, closed story that can define the game for years to come.

There is a general opinion that The War Within marks a bit of a reset for the storied MMO. After more recent expansions are seen as somewhat convoluted, the upcoming expansion is a hard reset, particularly with regard to the story.

Additionally, it is also seen as the ideal time to institute major changes to various systems in the game. Now, some players are calling on the developers to bring one of the most beloved specs of all time, back to prominence.

WoW players want 2H-Shaman to return in earnest

In a post on Reddit, one player shared their belief that it’s time for 2H-Shaman to rise once again.

For those who never saw fit to foray into WoW’s earliest years, 2H-Shaman was something to behold. Enhancement’s best-in-slot weapon was the Legendary Sulfuras, Hand of Ragnaros and it holds its own special place in the game’s history.

Many people used the thread as an opportunity to make their own class requests. One said, “Let rogues use ranged weapons while we at it. I mean Outlaw already keeps a revolver in their sleeves… Give us a rifle cowards.”

Others were less keen, saying: “I don’t know if 2H-Shammy has a place in modern WoW. The cool part of 2H-Shammy was to get that juicy Windfury in PvP. As we see with Frost DK, they really have trouble with balancing it around 2 weapon types. I don’t think they can make 2H-Shammy fun in modern WoW.”

Blizzard has been pretty tight-lipped on significant changes so far, aside from the introduction of Hero Talent trees. Whether there is a world in which 2H-Shaman makes a triumphant return, remains to be seen.
