FunPlusPhoenix initially made waves with their entrance into the Valorant scene, but haven’t been able to maintain that momentum going forward in First Strike of Stage 1 of the VCT.

The European team is undoubtedly in a funk, and they’ve been unable to secure that big win that they’re hellbent on securing. Now, however, they have a secret weapon, and they look set to make a U-turn in VCT Stage 2.

With the best Cypher in the west now on-board in the form of Dmitriy ‘dimasick’ Matvienko, he and the team are on a whole ‘nother level. Any Cypher player typically takes more of a support role, but the star challenges that theory with his groundbreaking performances and dominating kills.

Since joining the team back in January 2021, the star has become a rock for FPX. Combining Cypher’s abilities to relay information with his own pin-point aim accuracy, he can shut down the opposition in the blink of an eye.

With a jaw-dropping combat score of 249, and a K/D close to 1.4, he is undoubtedly one of Europe’s most feared support players to come up against.

As Kirill ‘ANGE1’ Karasiow leads the charge as team captain, the rest of the team are hot on his heels. Their combined lethality gives room for dimasick to shine even further, slinking off to take down his opponents as they attempt to momentarily regroup.

On paper, FPX’s coach, Ivan ‘Johnta’ Shevtsov, believes that “EU Valorant teams are a bit stronger than NA,” something ANGE1 agrees with, and so, now, it comes down to the execution. Can they outthink their opponents in VCT Stage 2?
