100 Thieves flopped out of Challengers 1 in the Valorant Champions Tour, but reclaimed their glory by storming through Challengers 2 Open Qualifiers. With a chip on his shoulder, Josh ‘steel’ Nissan has been spearheading their efforts to reclaim their spot on top of North America’s Future Earth.
Next up to play the on-form 100 Thieves is a peppy Luminosity Gaming squad with a point to prove after narrowly missing out on a Grand Final appearance in Challengers 1. When push comes to shove, though, can steel pull out a mastermind battle plan to book Thieves’ spot in Stage 1 Masters?
100 Thieves are arguably North America’s Valorant poster boys, since they destroyed every top outfit in the region to win Valorant’s first ever major tournament, First Strike. They initially looked to have everything they needed to continue their star-run.
However, with Jonathan ‘Silenx’ Huntington subbed for Nicholas ‘nitr0′ Cannella in the Challengers 1 open qualifier, their performance left much to be desired, scraping their way past unknown squads who shouldn’t have even caused the roster to break a sweat.
Then came Carpe Noctem, right out of left-field, sending the First Strike winners home early before Thieves’ rivals, Sentinels, grabbed the win at Challengers 1.
With a point to prove against critics everywhere, and led by steel, their snappier approach and creative strategies helped them to blitz their way through Challengers 2 without dropping a single map.
