Wicked trailer

Wicked Part 1, the highly-anticipated movie adaptation of the hit Broadway musical, has just dropped its first teaser trailer.

Like Deadpool 3, Wicked Part 1 is one of the most anticipated movies of the year that’s also been kept hush-hush. So far, we’ve only seen secretive images of Ariana Grande as Glinda and Cynthia Erivo as Elphaba.

The movie has developed incredible buzz thanks to its already-established Broadway fanbase, as well as its decision to split the storyline into two parts.

Between release date changes, the writers’ strike, and a few first looks, the wait is finally over. Wicked Part 1’s official trailer was released during the Super Bowl and it’s even more magical than expected.

Wicked Part 1 trailer gives the Broadway play new life

Before The Wizard of Oz, there was another story to be told in the Land of Oz. Wicked Part 1 will dive into the same Broadway story fans have fallen in love with. Elphaba and Glinda are better known as the Wicked Witch of the West and the Good Witch of the North.

But Elphaba wasn’t always evil. Wicked Part 1 explores Elphaba and Glinda’s friendship as it begins to crack due to opposing personalities, viewpoints, and sharing a love interest. Like the play, it will explore their younger years as Elphaba is seen as an outcast due to her green skin. She soon begins to attend university and meets Glenda.

The character has been misunderstood all this time and is a product of misfortune. Get ready to see how one green-skinned young woman was framed and forced to become the Wicked Witch. Wicked Part 1 will also star Bridgerton actor Jonathan Bailey as Prince Fiyero, their shared love interest who will undoubtedly drive a wedge between the two friends.

Wicked Part 1 is set to release on November 27, 2024.
