Muriel and Cameron are one of the more unlikely pairings in Virgin River history, but will they stay together in Season 6?

Romance is no stranger to Virgin River, with plenty of couple-ups going on to become fan-favorite storylines.

However, one that took viewers by surprise is Muriel and Cameron, thanks to their distinct age gap and seemingly different wants in life.

While the pair have started their blossoming romance on the right foot, will Muriel and Cameron stay together in Season 6? Here’s what we know.

Will Muriel and Cameron stay together in Virgin River Season 6?

While nothing is confirmed just yet, sources suggest that Muriel and Cameron’s relationship may run into some trouble during Virgin River Season 6.

A report by the EarlyBirdTimes suggests that showrunner Patrick Sean Smith has hinted that the pair’s relationship is likely “to be tested.”

Season 5 saw the introduction of the couple’s relationship, with Cameron joining the cast as the local doctor back in Season 4. Muriel originally offered to help Cameron and Doc at the clinic part-time while Mel wasn’t around, prompting the two to get better acquainted. From there, the pair grew closer, leading to harmless flirting that resulted in a surprising kiss.

However, there have been early concerns from fans surrounding whether the relationship would last, with both parties previously stating that they want completely different things out of life.

“How old is Muriel supposed to be? I was really confused when she thought it was worth mentioning, to him, that she doesn’t want to have any children. It’s like it would have been possible. I thought she was in her 60s. Their relationship doesn’t make any sense to me. Not because of the age gap, but it’s like their love is not credible enough to me. It went too fast and there were not enough scenes between them before it happened,” one Reddit user mused about Muriel’s relationship with Cameron.

“It’s not gonna last. No way. No how. Cameron wants kids. I don’t care what he says. He wants them. She doesn’t. It’s a wrap,” added another.

“In the books she is 56 and Cameron 35, if I’m correct… the actors are 61 and 46,” a third weighed in. “The biggest problem for me: Muriel and Cameron are secondary characters, so we can’t expect a lot of scenes of them like Mel/Jack (the majority of fans already complained that Season 5 has few scenes of Mel/Jack, although for me they even have too many scenes… they not my favorites. I watch VR for other plots like Muriel/Cameron – my favorite at the moment). Because of this, their relationship seems to have developed too fast, but I saw chemistry since the being – like the scene on season 4 (they dance at Joey’s wedding).”

For some, it’s a lack of chemistry that indicates Muriel and Cameron won’t last into Virgin River Season 6.

“There is definitely a significant age gap and though it is weird that’s not what’s weird about it. They have 0 chemistry together. All of their interactions are super awkward, they don’t click at all and have little in common. Muriel had a fantastic love interest in the books (Walt a retired general who was around her age), unfortunately he’s not in the shows so it feels like those two are forced together since there’s not many singles left,” one post on Reddit reads.

Time will tell, but with such big differences, the future is likely to be turbulent.
