Vince Vaughn’s Brawl in Cell Block 99 hits Netflix chart

Brawl in Cell Block 99 recently entered the Netflix charts in the U.S., and viewers are praising the “crazy” movie, as well as Vince Vaughn’s grandstanding central performance.

The love continues elsewhere on social media, with another viewer Tweeting: “If you’re looking for something to watch, Vince Vaughn absolutely killed it in Brawl in Cell Block 99.”

The movie hit screens in 2017 to rave reviews, and currently holds a Rotten Tomatoes score of 90% amongst critics. But in spite of those positive reviews, Brawl in Cell Block 99 was not a success, making back very little of its budget at the box office.

A cult has built around the movie in the years since however, so it’s no surprise to see the film entering the Netflix charts, and being discussed on social media, as Brawl is one of his best movies, and features perhaps the actor’s very best performance.

What is Brawl in Cell Block 99 about?

Brawl in Cell Block 99 stars Vince Vaughn as Bradley Thomas, a recovering alcoholic who experienced some success as a professional boxer, but now struggles to make ends meet working as a mechanic.

He loses that job at the start of proceedings, and quickly turns to crime, which just as quickly goes bad. Meaning Bradley finds himself in jail, where he’s manipulated by forces both inside and outside the prison, and must do everything in his power to save his wife and unborn child.

Written and directed by S. Craig Zahler, the movie co-stars Don Johnson and Jennifer Carpenter, while Udo Kier delivers a scene-stealing, scenery-chewing, supporting performance.
