Invincible fans excited for Season 2 Part 2 noticed the Viltrumite warrior Anissa in the comics, and they’re terrified of what that means is coming to the show.

Fans are eagerly awaiting the second half of Invincible Season 2, with a Part 2 trailer recently hitting YouTube.

There’s plenty of action to be found in the trailer, with Mark and the Guardians facing off against Angstrom Levy and a Squid invasion. But the big tease is obviously the promise of the upcoming Viltrumite invasion.

Invincible fans aren’t really worried about that, though. Instead, they’re reacting to a very specific and infamous character from the comics who appears in the trailer.

Invincible comic fans know what Anissa’s arrival in Invincible means

Eagle-eyed fans noted what appears to be Mark in a fight with Anissa, a character who appeared in several issues of Invincible.

While fans unfamiliar with the comics may not know her, those who do had a notably shocked reaction.

First showing up Invincible #44, Anissa is a Viltrumite warrior who is sent to Earth in order to check Mark’s progress in preparing for invasion. However, she becomes much more infamous with fans later in the run.

After the Viltrumite War arc of the comics, Anissa eventually joins with Nolan, whom she and other Viltrumites view as their new emperor. However, she also begins to display an increasing attraction to Mark, eventually sexually assaulting him. The event is incredibly traumatic for Mark, who spends much of Invincible’s later issues haunted by the rape.

Anissa is a fearsome Viltrumite who becomes one of Invincible’s most infamous characters.

It’s revealed after a five-year time skip that Anissa had Mark’s son, Marky, and has been working to earn redemption for her actions as a Viltrumite soldier. Though Nolan encourages Mark to forgive her, she is nonetheless killed by Mark’s then-wife, Atom Eve.

It’ll be a while before that moment plays out, though, as the current pace of the show indicates Invincible Season 2 likely won’t reach the Viltrumite War. However, fans are still hopeful for some key moments to come up, including Invincible’s surprising crossover with Spider-Man.

Invincible Season 2 Part 2 hits Prime Video starting March 14.
