Producer and actor Affion Crockett saves hip hop with his new movie A Hip Hop Story – here’s how you can watch the comedy movie.

Crockett is well known for his presence as an actor and comedian who got his start in Def Comedy Jam in 1996. Since then he has starred and worked with some of the best in the comedy genre. Many will remember his roles in Curb Your Enthusiasm and Blackish.

In the age of satirical comedies, he co-starred alongside Marlon Wayans in A Haunted House and the sequel. Crockett also produced his own series In the Flow with Affion Crockett. This time around with A Hip Hop Story, Crockett is teaming up with icons in the music industry to save hip-hop.

Here’s everything you need to know about A Hip Hop Story and how to watch it.

Where to watch A Hip Hop Story

A Hip Hop Story will be available to watch in theaters on February 23, 2024.

Deadline originally announced the movie in January with Crockett producing and starring as the lead Roscoe Simons. As the name implies, the comedy movie is about hip-hop culture being in crisis. “A pioneer of the culture joins forces with a few of rap music’s elite performers to attempt to save Hip Hop and provides social commentary on the state of Hip Hop culture,” reads the logline.

Alongside Crockett, Cedric the Entertainer, Damaine Radcliff, Jevin Smith, Damien Dante Wayans, Lil Rel Howery, Wayne Brady, Lil Mama, and Norm Nixon, Jr. will star in the movie.

The official trailer on YouTube opens with Crockett’s character growing up wanting to become someone in the music industry. But his friends make him realize hip-hop isn’t what it used to be. Supposed artists don’t respect the OGs and the new wave of music is “brainwashing” the kids.

Crockett’s character and others band together to try and bring back the golden era of hip-hop.

“A Hip Hop story is our love letter to the culture that shaped our lives. It’s a comedy with a message that encourages all of us to see our value. A Hip Hop story is a wonderful journey over the span of 50 years, through the eyes of one of the forefathers of Hip Hop. The film explores where it came from and where the journey actually settles today. Enjoy A Hip Hop Story!” said Crockett.
