If you’re a Netflix user, you might have seen a bunch of movies with “After” in the title floating about. But just how many make up the franchise?

Based on the 2014 novel of the same name by Anna Todd, the After movies are a series of romantic dramas directed by Jenny Gage, starring Josephine Langford and Hero Fiennes Tiffin in the leading roles.

The outline reads: “Tessa, a young student and devoted girlfriend, looks forward to greater prospects in college. However, she soon meets Hardin, an enigmatic rebel who makes her question her notions of life and love.”

With the title now cropping up on Netflix, you might be wondering: how many After movies are here? Here’s what you need to know.

How many After movies are there?

There are five After movies in total, releasing between 2019-2023.

The intended watch order for the movies is as follows:

  • After (2019)
  • After We Collided (2020)
  • After We Fell (2021)
  • After Ever Happy (2022)
  • After Everything (2023)

For those looking to binge the franchise, all five After movies are currently available to stream on Netflix.

Are the After movies worth watching?

Though critics typically haven’t enjoyed the After movies, audience scores on Rotten Tomatoes typically range between 70% to 93%.

“This movie feels nostalgic to me,” one audience review of After reads. “Yes, it’s not the best thing I’ve ever watched but it is the best movie in the After franchise by a mile. Josephine and Hero have great chemistry. Josephine in particular shines in her role and her portrayal of Tessa is accurate to the books. It is a movie that I will watch again on occasion.”

Another agreed of After Ever Happy: “This movie was so good! By far my favorite out of the franchise so far. Hero Fiennes Tiffin and Josephine Langford portray these characters so well and have great chemistry together. Heros acting was great (I may be a little biased though because Hardin is my favorite character in the books). The storyline fits well with what happens in the books and I cannot wait to see the next one!”

Rounding out the franchise, feedback for After Everything states: “This was a good finale to the wonderful After Series. For most of the film, I was hoping Josephine would appear as she’s only in the last few minutes of the film, but I think Hero and Mimi who are the leading actors in this final film did a great job making this movie a great ending to the final love story of Harden and his Tessa. The venue in the last picture of the film was absolutely breathtaking and the event was a beautiful tear-jerker!”

“I’m glad I saw this final film in the theater as I’ve seen all the others at home on Netflix, but on the big screen with surround sound was awesome and I’d highly recommend it if you have watched and enjoyed all the previous movies in the After series, go see this one and preferably in a theater, it’s worth the time and cost!”
