With Avatar: The Last Airbender due to hit Netflix this month, fans have tipped a Stranger Things star as a perfect fit for one particular role.

Fans might have a while to wait for new episodes of Stranger Things – with Season 5 now not thought to be released until 2025 – viewers only have a matter of days until the live-action version of Avatar: The Last Airbender.

Adapting the hit 2005 anime series, Netflix‘s official synopsis reads: “A young boy known as the Avatar must master the four elemental powers to save a world at war and fight a ruthless enemy bent on stopping him.”

With the series due to be released on February 22, some fans have weighed in on which Stranger Things star would be perfect for an undisclosed role.

Avatar: The Last Airbender fans on Reddit have decided that Eduardo Franco – who plays Argyle in Stranger Things Season 4 – would be the perfect fit to play Chong from the original anime series.

In Stranger Things, Argyle is known for being extremely laid-back and relaxed, though he panics rather easily at gruesome and gory sights. He’s the best friend of Jonathan Byers and works as a delivery boy at Surfer Boy Pizza.

In reality, Eduardo Franco has also appeared in Queenpins, The Package, and The Binge. Fans might also recognize him from Booksmart and American Vandal.

Though a little older than Franco is in reality, Avatar: The Last Airbender’s Chong is a wandering nomad who helps Aang and his friends on their travels to reach Omashu by informing them of the existence of the Cave of Two Lovers.

“Ngl this is perfect,” one Redditor posted in response to the idea being floated on a thread, with a second weighing in: “Oh my god you are so right.”

“I don’t even remember where this guy is from…but it feels so right…” a third agreed.

With Argyle moving to California during Stranger Things Season 4, some fans feel that a major Netflix redemption is something that Franco specifically deserves.

“He deserves it after what the Duffer Brothers did to him,” one fan points out. “When everyone was getting their calls to come back, he never got his call. he was laid off and not even told and had to find out the hard way. it doesn’t help they’re enabling Noah and the actor who plays Murray. I’m not watching S5 cuz of the past year(2023) they’ve been in deep sh**,” another responded about Franco’s alleged departure.
